Day 5: LEGO NXT-Light Sensor & Challenges

The fun begins with a new sensor!

The light sensor can be particularly challenging as variable such as surface, lighting, and sensor placement are key to making it a success.

Day 4: LEGO NXT-Programming

After we built the chassis we had to make the robot move.  For this we used NXT software which is a simpler version of LabVIEW.  

       LabVIEW is industry standard programming software which is used by scientists and engineers.

The children in this workshop took to programmig like moths to a flame.  

Their work was rewarded!

Day 3: LEGO NXT-Chassis

This is the most intense day of the workshop as we switch gears from using LEGO WeDo kits that are colorful, bright and intuitive to a more complex robotics kit.  

Children and teen volunteers had to pay close attention

                                                            and at times frustrating!  

By the end of today's session the children persevered by working together as a team!

We have accomplished a lot in the last 3 days but there is still more to do

Day 2: LEGO WeDo-When Alligators Attack!

A volunteer's job is never done.
